Title Design Websites

Image
Art of the Title is the first website about title design that we will be researching. The purpose of this website is title design sequence in film media. Art of the Title includes several sequences and designers. We are researching this website so we can be prepared for our film. After doing some research, I was able to understand what title designs actually are. We were also able to look at past award nominees and winners for various awards about title design. Art of the Title is an efficient website, which is why we chose it. The website shows the studios at which title designs were made, the designers who made them, and the title designs themselves. It also shows these together. For example, when looking at a studio, the designers and title designs filmed there also appear.  The other website we used is Watch the Titles. Using this website to learn about title design is very easy. This website includes several title designs divided into different categories. One of these categorie

RSEARCH: It

Image
The Horror sensation presents Seven young outcasts in Derry, Maine, who are about to face their worst nightmare -- an ancient, shape-shifting evil that emerges from the sewer every 27 years to prey on the town's children. Banding together over the course of one horrifying summer, the friends must overcome their own personal fears to battle the murderous, bloodthirsty clown known as Pennywise. This movie presents a memorable but frightening menace which is penny wise, characters that can disappear at any moment, a scary atmosphere that includes dim lighting, and and element of surprise. I loved the villian in the movie which was the clown Pennywise even though I dislike clowns very much but, the clown plays its role very well being mysterious and scary. The other element that I love about the movie is the characters disappearing which brings curiousity to the film about what happened to them and if they died or not.  The elements of the movie that I disliked was the jump scares th

Genre Research: RUN (2020)

Image
Run is a 2020 American psychologic Horror film directed by Aneesh Chaganty and written by Chaganty and Sev Ohanian. The film stars Kiera Allen as a disabled homeschooled teenager who begins to suspect that her mother (Sarah Paulson) is keeping a dark secret from her. The elements of a horror film that id presented in this is one: The Element of Surprise. The surprise that the villain in this is the actual character's mother is intriguing because you wouldn't expect that to be at most times in stories but, hey that's the purpose of the film. The second element would be A Backstory That's Key to the Monster/Villain's Purpose. This element is crucial because it lets everybody watching the film understand everything better as to why someone acts this way or has powers or what influenced them to be evil. In this case, though, the mother gives birth to her daughter but, her daughter doesn't realize what her mother does behind the scenes until she grows up to find ou

Genre Research: The ReQuin

Image
The Box-office film named The ReQuin is one of the most popular horror movies out today. This movie is about terror in paradise when Jaelyn and Kyle travel to a remote seaside villa in Vietnam for a romantic getaway. A torrential storm descends, reducing the villa to little more than a raft and sweeping the young couple out to sea. Suddenly, another danger appears -- a school of great white sharks. With her injured husband watching helplessly, Jaelyn must battle the deadly predators alone. The elements that this film presents are first, A Memorable, But Frightening Menace. This menace includes the death-threatening, blood thirsting shark that resides underneath the depths of the ocean which is on the hunt for prey. The second element includes Plenty of Characters Who Could Disappear at Any Moment. With the menace being a shark I'm pretty sure u could expect there to be people eaten by the predator, in fact, lots die which is a vital piece of mystery around the film. The last elem

Research blog: Comedy

Image
Comedy Films are "make 'em laugh" films designed to elicit laughter from the audience. Comedies are light-hearted dramas, crafted to amuse, entertain, and provoke enjoyment. The comedy genre humorously exaggerates the situation, the language, action, and characters. Comedies observe the deficiencies, foibles, and frustrations of life, providing merriment and a momentary escape from day-to-day life. They usually have happy endings, although the humor may have a serious or pessimistic side. A comedy of manners film satirizes the manners and affectations of a social class, often represented by stock characters. The plot of the comedy is often concerned with an illicit love affair or some other scandal. However, the plot is generally less important than its witty dialogue. This form of comedy has a long ancestry, dating back at least as far as Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare. In a "fish out of water"-style comedy, the main character (or characters) f

Thriller

Image
Thriller is a genre of literature. Thrillers are dark, engrossing, and suspenseful plot-driven stories. Films that represent this genre usually show scenes in mostly close-up and extreme close-up angles as well as high-angle shots. A few examples of a thriller is the movie "The Guilty" and "Stillwater".  These aspects set the mood for the audience that's watching, which helps build tension so the film is more effective. Thrillers mostly take place in suburbs and cities although there is a possibility they will take place in exotic places. The themes of these films commonly include ransoms, kidnappings, heists, captivities, and revenge because the purpose is mainly to cause tension and anticipation so people will be anxious to watch the movie till the end or watch the next series to see what transpired. The familiar type of lighting that is shown is low-key lighting which is a high-contrast style of lighting used in the film. Props used in thrillers are typically

Horror

Image
Horror is a storytelling genre that aims to scare, shock, and delight its audience. Horror films can be interpreted in a variety of ways, but they all feature a core villain, monster, or threat who is often a reflection of society's concerns at the time. This individual or creature is referred to as the "other," a phrase used to describe someone who is feared because they are different or misunderstood. This is also why the horror genre has evolved so dramatically over time. Horror evolves along with society and fears. The themes on the horror genre are often a reflection of the culture and what it fears at the time (invasion, disease, nuclear testing, etc.). The character types on the horror genre besides the killer, monster, or threat, the various sub-genres contain certain hero archetypes (e.g., the Final Girl in Slasher movies). The setting of a horror can has many settings, such as: a gothic castle, small town, outer space, or haunted house. It can take place in the

The bigger pitch

Image
Me and my partner have two ideas of a pitch for our new film. The first pitch is “A killer is on the rise in the streets of Fort Lauderdale but doesn't know when he will met his fate.” The second pitch is “ kids go out to shoot baskets  and play some ball but doesn’t know he might be the next to get shot at.” This pitch is about 21 words and is nice and easy to soak into. The movie is about a killer so the second pitch looks like the side our team is going to lean more on because, we're not revealing too much information about the movie. The pitch has to be an attention grabber but doesn't reveal too much about the film at the same time. Ultimately, the second choice is the one our team probably going to choose.
